Robots v. Humans…come on.

terminator-salvation-stillI wrote this just after watching the new Terminator on iPhone:

Don’t take to heart what the artzy jaded elite say about this. It is LOADS better then the 3rd and stands up on it’s own. The mixture of polished CG and practical effects makes for a movie that has been lost in the digitally over cooked action movie (see Wolverine). Check your contrived deep thinking mind at the door and think back to the bad ass nature of your 15 year old self. Bottom line: Robots v. Humans. Come on.

Christian Bale and Shane rant like Stephen Hawking

My friend Mr. Andy Foltz of “Old Man Foltz” brought this little internetz nugget to my attention when we where having fun with Matts Joke. Anyrate, I thought it would be worth while to revisit the Christian Bale tirade with Shane Hurlbut (now made famous for being at the stinky end of Mr. Bale’s half British half John Connor philippic) this time with a special touch. Enjoy.

A link to the site after the break.

Shawn doesn’t care about Orlando Bloom

picture-3

Full Frame ended last Sunday. For most of the documentary film goers it ended with a late night re-screening of an award winning doc. For my self and Corey, it ended a bit differently…

Rewind to the day before. Corey, Kenneth and my self were heading to the corner sandwich shop and Kenneth got pulled away by a friend. Corey and I went on to eat. When Kenneth showed up he told us a story. Kenneth and friend were sitting in the hotel lobby when a man walks in with a dog. With surprise Kenneth said “What?” and his friend replied “Yeah, I know what’s with the dog??” “No, that is Orlando Bloom!” Kenneth corrected. After telling us this story I realized that same morning I was rushing to the box office because I didn’t want to miss out on films I wanted to see. As I came up the stairs, there was a dog tied to the railing. It was Orlando Bloom and his black lab…I walked right by.

FULL FRAME: Friday iPhone update

Friday, day two of Full Frame. I’m kind of upset at how they did tickets this year. Seems they didn’t set aside tickets for passholders, and allowed online single tickets. This made for films selling out staight away leaving nothing for passholders. So I won’t be seeing “Bitch Academy”, piss.

Anyrate, I’m in line waiting to see “The Kinda Sutra” and “St. Misbehavin’: Wavy Gravy”

I was telling Kenneth last night how great it is that this years festival isn’t festuin (no spell check on iPhone) with preachy films about the Iraq war or Katrina or W. It’s nice to have space for films about ineresting people and wonderful stories.

Case and point is the film I saw this morning about a film maker in India who makes a Indian Superman. Ruddy brilliant!

Seems the line is moving. Check back later. Cheers.

FULL FRAME: Mad Men the Movie (”Art & Copy”)

artcopyposter

Over the last few years I’ve become more and more interested in advertising and marketing. Last year a friend of mine got me hooked on AMCs “Mad Men” a show about the golden age of advertising produced by the same guy who did the Sopranos. Fast forward to Full Frame 2009, and the film called “Art & Copy”

This film tells the stories behind the stories with real life Don Drapers, “Art & Copy” pulls the curtain back on such ads as Apple’s “1984″ and Nike’s “Just Do It.”

With characters such as George Lois there is never a dull moment. Lois is responsible for the sky rocket of Tommy Hilfiger and the original MTV campaign. Hal Riney’s 1984 Presidential ad told of a morning in America, and helped elect Ronald Regan. Following his cutting edge proclivity, Riney’s company has an amazing website that you can control with your web cam.

“Art & Copy” lets you on top Mount Olympus to see the Gods at work. If you have ever wondered what manner of genius creates the iconic adverts of pop culture or loved last years “Helvetica” or watch Mad Men, then”Art & Copy” is perfect.

FULL FRAME: “Shooting Beauty”

picture_thisFull Frame Documentary Film Festival began today! I have been looking forward to this four day peregrination through the real life for a while now, and its FINALLY here!

I set out my outfit last night, cleared out my bag of all unessential festival weight and laid my head down to wake up today. I did just that, then fell back to sleep…then popped out of bed 30 minutes behind schedule!! DAMN IT! I through on a graphic tee and slung my trendy Macbook Pro heavy bag over my shoulder. I pushed my truck Red Thunder to the limit of a shaky 75mph storming towards Durham 45 minutes away.

I got here to find that the parking deck across the street is undergoing some repair and is at half capacity and now FULL! I was able to sweet talk my way in to the Full Frame Volunteer parking and set out to get my pass.
