Peace In Outer Space: Pat’s EP Comes Out 6/23

cover_smallerWell it’s been in the works for a while but it’s finally done and on its way  – my first EP, Peace In Outer Space, comes out June 23 on most major digital markets, including iTunes, Amazon’s MP3 store, Real Rhapsody, and Napster (although really…does ANYONE use anything but the first two?) I would encourage you to purchase it.

It’s acoustic-centric but definitely not just acoustic. There are electronic elements to be found as well and a little bit of rock. One of them is an instrumental. Overall I’d say it has a somewhat indie feel to it. The EP is comprised of six tracks:

  1. The Last Free Place (Exit Strategy)
  2. Adderall
  3. The Ballad of Charlie Dreher
  4. Airport
  5. Orchid Song
  6. Peace In Outer Space

I’m proud of this record. I’ve put a lot of work into it and I think it sounds pretty good. I’d really appreciate you giving it a try.

You can also download my song “Adderall” now for free.

I’m not dead.

Shawn isn’t either. Although apparently I do have tonsilitus, and it sucks the fat one. I’ve been really sick for about the last five or six days and I finally had enough today and went to urgent care. Everyone there was so warm and helpful.

No, actually they were all assholes, every last one of them except for the actual doctor that I saw, who was a really nice guy. The ladies at the front desk were rude and, I later discovered, incompetent, and after waiting for an hour I was treated to the most royal bitch of a nurse I think I’ve ever encountered.

All’s well that ends well though; I was given some antibiotics and told to take Ibuprofen and Mucinex along with them and I should be fine in a few days.

I’m going to try to get back into the habit of blogging here, and I do indeed have a lot to blog about.

Pat out.

New Harry Potter covers…

The Goblet of Fire

It is no secret that I’m a colossal fan of Harry Potter. However, I’ve taken a nice break from the world of wizardry and have indulged in a few other books; Little Brother and The Road, and I’m listening to Stephen King’s Cell again. However, the hijinks at Hogwarts are never far from my mind and I aways welcome the subject. That said, I wanted to show off some of M. S. Corley’s work. Corley of Kirkland Washington decided to redesign the Harry Potter book covers as vintage Penguin Books. I love this kind of design. Its alot like Olly Moss’s incredible re-imagined movie posters.

Teetering tillite

Imagine this…Your a struggling artist walking the streets head hung low. You repeat the same mantra in your mind over and over: What to do? What to do??!? While walking near the river so see a pile of rocks and you ejaculate “THAT’S IT!!”

Congrats to J&J

Our friends Jess and Josh over at Jess and Josh Talk About Stuff just moved into new digs at their own domain name. Be sure to go check them out; they’re both funny, talented writers. Oh, and Jess was recently quoted in an article on CNN online about Twitter, so that’s pretty cool too.

More things that were awesome.

  • Wednesday night, I was listening to Dave Navarro (guitarist for Jane’s Addiction and former husband to Carmen Electra) on his radio show, Dark Matter. It was NINJA Wednesdays – meaning, in honor of the upcoming tour, Dave was spinning only Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction tunes. (This was cool, by the way, because he didn’t stick to singles – he played some lesser known songs from both bands, or live or alternate versions. There was a really great Jane’s cover of “Don’t Call Me Whitey,” but I digress.) Anyways, to be funny, I twittered at Dave one word: “Dicknose.” Woke up in the morning with a direct response from him (”ouch so hurtful.”) Hah.
  • Speaking of direct messages on Twitter I also got one from Cary Brothers, whom I had informed will be thanked on the thank-you notes on my EP.
  • Got some seriously awesome work done on my record last night. We recorded my next song and it is completely done recording, and I believe almost done mixing – I need to hear it again because by  the time we were done last night I was suffering from immense ear fatigue, meaning that I crossed the point where I can distinguish between similar sounds (not good if you’re trying to mix, because there are subtleties involved.) Thus, while the mix sounded great last night, it might or might not sound so hot today. I shall listen and get back to you. I can comfortably say that if it does need more mixing, it won’t need much. I may or not post the track here.
  • Definitely did not make that mixtape. Sorry – had no time.
